Kia ora, my name is Brenda. My people are from Whakatane, Ngaati Awa, however, I was born and lived most of my life by the beautiful Kaipara awa in Maungaturoto before moving to the Waikato in 2020. The values held by Awhi Counselling are based on whakawhanaungatanga and manaakitanga. Building relationships and holding space for people that is welcoming and respectful and where you can expect to be treated with care. I work with a diverse range of people from individuals to whaanau groups the young and the wise. I am motivated to support whaanau in this space due to my own personal experience and the belief that everyone deserves a safe space to navigate their experience.
