Tēnā koe. My name is Tina McTear. I work in a small private practice in Ōtautahi Christchurch called Kea Family Services. I am a qualified Clinical Family Therapist, an experienced child and adolescent therapist and a registered Social Worker. Most of my work has been in child and adolescent mental health, however I have also worked in adult mental health overseas, in a team that worked with people in crisis. My experience in these teams has led me to support people bereaved by suicide. The wellbeing and mental health of people who are grieving is essential. Grief is a personal experience and we often try to deal with the impact of it on our own, however it is also a shared experience. I take a whānau /family perspective in my work. The people in our lives can be our strongest resources and families often have useful ways of healing. Sometimes though we just feel out of our depth and need someone else to listen, inform and guide us through. I work with people on their own or together with other family members. I have creative ways of working with children and adolescents if they are also in need of support.
