Talofa lava, Kia ora, my name is Taulaga Alatimu, and I am Samoan, born and raised in Auckland. I am married and have 2 young children.
I am currently based in Kumeu, West Auckland. My working days are Wednesday, Thurs and Friday and my hours vary between 8.30-4.30pm. I offer online, tele-therapy support.
I am a Registered Nurse by profession and have been working in the area of mental health for over 15 years. I am also a qualified Cognitive behavioural therapist and have been practising for 9 years. I have worked closely with those from diverse backgrounds and cultures and have experience in my personal and professional life regarding this area of bereavement, specifically with grief, trauma, loss and suicide.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, talking therapy, talanoa and other therapeutic modalities.
What brings me here to this work is that I am passionate in providing an opportunity for you to share your story in a safe, non-judgemental, and supportive space. It is a real privilege for me to walk alongside you in this journey, and together we will explore ways in which will help you navigate this space from here on in.
There is a well-known saying in Samoan, “e vave taunu’u le malaga, pea a tatou alo va’a fa’atasi,”meaning our destiny is within sight, when we paddle our canoe together.
As mentioned before, walking alongside you is an honour, and together, with the tools wrapped with values of hope, compassion, respect, and healing. I will do my best in honouring this journey with you.
Fa’afetai and thank you!
