Kia ora. My name is Jo. Hard to say where I come from as my parents were share milkers so we moved a lot, so my stock answer is that I have resided anywhere from Dargaville to Hokitika, with my formative years mainly on the West Coast, including a living in Sydney for 10 years.  I have lived in Rangiora (which is in North Canterbury)for nearly 30 years and have worked in Rangiora, and also in central Christchurch for over 15 years.  Whilst my preference is to work face to face with people in my rooms, and depending on circumstances I’m open to working through video link or phone.  My work hours are Monday to Thursday, 9.00am – 5.00pm between my two work sites. My background is that I have a psychology degree with a masters with counselling, but I would primarily argue that real life has rounded out the “paper” qualifications.  Historically I have worked at Lifeline in clinical roles, and have been in private practice for over 12 years.  My interests are around trauma, but also have experience working with grief and people bereaved by suicide. I have lots of experience working with diverse backgrounds, and generally from youth right through to all ages and stages, including family/whānau groups, and general groups. My interest in working in this area is driven by my own life story and impact of suicide has had on it.  Please reach out to connect with me if you feel I will be a good fit for you and I can offer what you need to support this unpredictable and devastating loss that has happened in your life.
