Kia ora. Namaste. My name is Shikha David. I am an Indian who immigrated with my family as a teenager to Aotearoa more than 30 years ago. My heritage gives me the richness to speak Hindi, Urdu and English fluently. The dark narratives in my life, including the journey of developing my own voice, was a lonely road that I wish someone had come alongside to just listen to me without judgement. I did experience counselling many years later which made a huge difference in my life. So now I would like to do the same for others who feel alone, invisible and in a dark place. I am a registered counsellor with NZCCA. My heart is to journey with people (children, adolescents and adults) in their waka as they slowly and gently unravel their heart narrative of pain, grief, loss and trauma.
