Ngā mihi kia koutou,

Ko Carla Brownie tōku ingoa,

I live in beautiful Marlborough sounds near Havelock with my partner.

I have 2 grown daughters, with one grandchild, who live in Nelson and Wellington.

I grew up in Christchurch, where I trained as a registered nurse.

In 2000, I retrained and qualified as a counsellor in 2008 and have worked in Blenheim for over 20 years in the areas of mental health and addiction.

As a young person I experienced significant mental distress and addiction to the point of wanting to end my life. I understand the shame and guilt as well as the huge grief experienced from the loss of a friend or family member through suicide.

My commitment to you is to awhi (honour) the journey you are on while finding peace and hope from the traumatic loss you are living with.

Walking alongside bereaved individuals and groups is part of my mahi.

Kia kaha, Carla
